We will provide a stable supply of high-quality pharmaceuticals to patients around the world
Kenji Taguchi, Ph.D.
Executive Officer, Head of Product Supply Div.
The mission of the Product Supply Division is to maintain a full value chain that is compliant with a variety of regulations, including GMP and GDP, and to manufacture and supply high-quality pharmaceuticals in a stable manner in line with our mission of “Creating hope for all facing illness.” In recent years, an increasing number of factors have been causing supply disruptions in the global economic environment, such as pandemics, wars, natural disasters caused by global warming, and rising costs and logistics issues. Faced with such circumstances, we will work to achieve a sustainable, stable supply through efforts such as (1) strengthening the global supply chain (2) developing human resources, and (3) consideration for the environment.
We are currently working to build a strong global supply chain. We are strengthening measures to ensure a stable supply of pharmaceuticals for domestic and international markets, while minimizing incidents such as domestic shipping restrictions. By reconstructing product lifecycle management based on a range of policy trends, pursuing logistics management appropriate to the characteristics of diversifying modalities, and engaging in supplier relationship management using opportunities for dialogue and surveys of our business partners, we will leverage efficient management and cost control to achieve sustainable business operations. This allows us to offer a stable supply of pharmaceuticals to patients around the world.
The company is also committed to developing human resources who are able to achieve this stable supply. In a workplace environment where engagement is high, we are endeavoring to foster a culture in which each of our employees has a high level of specialization and a global perspective, and is able to take a holistic approach to their work. Through these initiatives, we will build a cooperative structure that extends beyond divisional and regional boundaries, developing product supply personnel who are able to leverage a broad network to pioneer new possibilities in the supply chain.
Our goal for the future is to improve our manufacturing and development functions while keeping product lifecycles in mind, so that we can supply high-quality pharmaceuticals in a stable, efficient manner. Moreover, we will work to build strong global partnerships with business partners around the world, contributing to ensuring a stable supply and accelerating product development. Additionally, our measures to train human resources will help us to acquire the new skills and knowledge required in supply chains for new products, and, by increasing our sensitivity to risk, will allow us to respond to changing business environments. At the same time, we will encourage the use of IT tools to support business processes, and facilitate process visibility by linking data from different systems, with the goal of accelerating strategic planning and execution.
